For saltwater bait fishing, circle hooks greatly reduce fish mortality as the unique design hooks the side of the fishes jaw instead of deep in its throat. There is not setting of the hook rather you reel slow and steady and the hook with set into the jaw properly. When fishing with kids with a worm on the bottom or a bobber, often fish will swallow the hook causing mortality, now you have an opportunity to release all the fish you catch.
