Planer Board
A planer board is a device that is used to move a line (s) away from the boat or while anchored in a river. This is a very effective way of fishing for a couple of reasons.
Salmon especially, are a boat shy fish and in early spring and late fall, the will be within 10 feet from the surface. For this reason, fishing with a planar board can be very effective.
A planar board by taking a line laterally away from the boat aids is helping reduce tangling lines at the boat. Since often a spread of 4-6 lines are out, moving 1 or 2 away from the boat can be a real advantage.
