The Stack O'Smelt™ downrigger troll was developed to offer distance between the weight and the release. As we use the School O'Smelt™ troll off the weight, we like to have our release 2 ft above the weight. We used to use the Roemer release but since its discontinuation and with the invent of the Chamberlain and Strike-Saver releases, we now see the need for a rugged vertical flashing troll to provide this distance. Our #1 focus with this product is securing your weight. When you add an extender, you add risk in that this portion is now the weakest link. Using heavy duty crimping equipment, we are confident you will have not worries. We test each part to 40 pounds dead weight and inspect all crimps.
